Do solid carbide end mill require working fluids?
 Jul 26, 2019|View:1651

Solid carbide end mill is a kind of milling cutter made of cemented carbide. To understand the cemented carbide end milling cutter, it is necessary to know what cemented carbide is. Cemented carbide is a powder metallurgical product sintered in vacuum furnace or hydrogen reduction furnace with micron powder of carbide (WC, TiC) of high hardness refractory metal as its main component and cobalt (Co) or nickel (Ni), molybdenum (Mo) as binder.

Solid carbide end mill Tool Maintenance

When the axis line of solid carbide end millcoincides with the edge line of workpiece or approaches the edge line of workpiece, the situation will be very serious. Operators should do a good job in equipment maintenance.

1. Check the power and stiffness of the machine tool to ensure that the required milling cutter diameter can be used on the machine tool.

2. The tool overhang on the spindle is as short as possible to reduce the impact load caused by the milling axis and workpiece position.

3. To ensure that there are not too many blades meshing with the workpiece at the same time to cause vibration. On the other hand, when milling narrow workpiece or milling cavity, it is necessary to ensure that there are enough blades and workpiece meshing.

4. Ensure that the feed per blade is used so that the correct cutting effect can be obtained when the chips are thick enough to reduce tool wear. The indexable blade with positive rake groove is used to obtain smooth cutting effect and minimum power.
