What's the difference between plane milling cutter and end milling cutter? Plane milling cutter and ball-end milling cutter belong to end milling cutter, but the end face is different, one is spherical, one is flat-bottomed, flat-bottomed with two edges, four edges, three edges and six edges, mainly used for milling plane, two edges for milling keyway, six edges for finishing milling. Planar milling cutters such as flat-bottom three-edge, two-edge four-edge milling cutters can milling planes, slotting and so on. Both end and side edges of planar milling cutters can be used for milling planes in processing. End milling cutters, such as ball-nose cutters, are mainly used for the end of the cutters. Generally, side edges are not used.
Flat milling cutter is the nickname of end milling cutter. The main cutting edge of plane milling cutter is cylindrical, and the cutting edge of end face is secondary. Flat milling cutters are generally divided into:
1. Flat-end milling cutter, rough milling, removal of a large number of blanks, small area of horizontal plane or contour finishing milling;
2. Ball-end milling cutter, semi-finish milling and finish milling of curved surface; small cutter can finish milling small chamfer of steep surface/straight wall.
3. Flat-end milling cutter with chamfer can be used for rough milling to remove a large number of blanks, and can also be used for fine milling of flat surface (relative to steep surface) with small chamfer.
4. Forming milling cutters, including chamfer cutter, T-shaped cutter or drum cutter, tooth cutter, internal R cutter.
5. Chamfer cutter, chamfer cutter shape and chamfer shape are the same, divided into milling rounded chamfer and chamfer milling cutter.
