Clamping method of solid carbide milling cutter

Solid carbide milling cutter is a rotary cutter with one or more teeth for milling. When working, the cutter teeth sequentially cut off the remainder of the workpiece. Solid carbide milling cutter is primarily used for machining surfaces, steps, grooves, forming surfaces and cutting work pieces on milling machines.

Solid carbide milling cutter is mainly used in machining center, which is in cantilever form when used. During the milling process, solid carbide milling cutter may sometimes extend out of the cutter holder until it is complete? The reason for this phenomenon is usually due to the oil film existing between the inside hole of the cutter holder and the outer diameter of solid carbide cutter cutter handle, resulting in insufficient clamping force. When the solid carbide milling cutter is manufactured, it is usually coated with anti-rust oil. If the non-water-soluble cutting oil is used in cutting, a mist-like oil film will be formed on the inner hole of the cutter holder, the grip is difficult to grip firmly and the solid carbide milling cutter is in the process of being machined causing loosening and loss of grip. Therefore, before mounting the solid carbide milling cutter, the solid carbide milling cutter handle and the inner hole of the cutter holder should be cleaned with cleaning fluid and then dried before mounting.

When the solid carbide milling cutter has a large diameter, even if the hilt and clamp are clean, there may be a knife slip. The hilt with a flat notch and the corresponding side locking method should be used.

Another problem that may occur after the solid carbide milling cutter is clamped is that during processing the solid carbide milling cutter is breaking at the end of the cutter clamp. The reason is usually that the cutter clamp has been used too long and the end of the cutter clamp has been worn into a conical shape, at this point should be replaced by a new tool holder.
